About Access Life

A home built on hope, since 2014.

Access Life is a registered Indian not-for-profit (Section 8) creating a home-away-from-home for children battling cancer and their families — completely free of cost.

Who we are

A Section 8 NGO,
supporting 228 families today.

Access Life is a registered Indian not-for-profit organisation, operating as a Section 8 company, established in 2014. Our mission is to create an environment where children have access to quality health care and holistic support — enabling families to face the weight of illness together. We provide free-of-cost accommodation, nutrition, transportation, counselling, and non-formal education to underprivileged children and their caregivers undergoing cancer treatment.

We have 14 centres, including Mumbai (4), Pune (1), Manipal (2), Chandigarh (1), Bangalore (1), Ahmedabad (1), Coimbatore (1), Madurai (1), Silchar (1) and Noida (1). Currently, we support 228 families at a time across all our centres.

Families come from remote towns and cities across India seeking treatment for their children. While hospitals extend quality medical services, poorer families have no place to stay during the 5–12 months (sometimes 24) that it takes to complete treatment. Many end up living on footpaths or are forced to abandon treatment. Access Life bridges that gap.

Along with a home-like environment, we address the psychological and social effects of cancer with practical support services, nutritional support, educational resources, safe transport to hospitals, and recreational programs.

Our Philosophy

High-quality, holistic healthcare facilities should be available for all, regardless of their economic status.

Our Vision

An environment where children have access to quality health care and holistic support, allowing families to face the weight of illness together.

Our Mission

Provide all children aged 0–14 coming to big cities for cancer treatment a clean, safe, comfortable, caring and cost-free accommodation — where their families can better comfort and support them.

Chairman's Note

“When we started Access Life, ten years ago, we envisioned that every needy child who comes to Mumbai to undergo treatment for cancer would have access to a clean, safe, comfortable, caring, and cost-free accommodation — a home away from home for both the child and their family. In such a nurturing environment, these little ones would have another opportunity to experience childhood, the way they ought to.”

We set up the first Access Life Centre for Childhood Cancer Care at Chembur, Mumbai in June 2014. As we grew, we added more centres and donated vehicles. At present we have 14 centres taking our basic capacity to 228 accommodation units that serve 684 individuals. Our centres are operating at full capacity — and we are looking forward to opening more.

The driving force behind all this are our volunteers and our committed staff, who work selflessly. Creating more awareness on cancer should hopefully motivate more people to open their hearts and homes to these children — and so our mission continues…
